Designer Penelope Chilvers's interest in traditional Spanish craftsmanship was sparked on childhood vacations in Girona where she first encountered handmade espadrilles and raw-edged, bull hide moccasins. In 2005, she crafted the first shoes in her namesake collection, inspired by classic Spanish riding boots.
